My Production Journey - Term 3
Week 1:
Monday
Today, we started with a few warm ups like heads up and heads down were you put your heads up and when someone says put your head down you have to try and not look at another person, we then did extreme rock paper scissors where we do it physically instead of using our hands, we then played cat and mouse a game like tag where you link onto others and try to not get caught a great game to step up the energy, We then focused on the Halloween show and spoke about ideas for the show and what characters would be in the show, we then spoke about themes would play out in the show for example a twist in the story and how to make a scene intense, we then walked around the room and played what fell out the sky which helps with creativity and had to imagine what came out of the sky, we then got into fours and used my example what fell of the sky and created a scene out of it. And we then just focused on what we could do for the ghost lights tours and what characters we could be, we then had a partner and thought about our social profile and how our attitude would play out in a theme.
Tuesday
This morning it was independent study and I got to work on my blogger and finish the rest of my assignment for university. We then head up to speak to Kelly about auditions for university and how getting in is really difficult. We were then given scripts from the curious incident with the dog and put in teams to work with them and spoke about Christopher's struggles and about how he sees the world because he has additional needs.
Wednesday
Today we play many warmup games like ninja and you had to focus on your movement and other people because they would attempt to get you out, we then played the nun and we had to concentrate on not to laugh whilst others do strange things. We then got back to planning the ghost light tours, we were given a little script to present in front of the class and create a scene from it and I was used as a table, we then were given characters to base these characters to make the scene more interesting and improvised a few lines to stick to our characters, I was given the character a brain surgeons who has problems with anxiety. We then went to see 2:22 show and I thought it was amazing the twist at the end and the characters back grounds and drama was good.
Thursday
We were in Tom's lesson and we spoke about universities and auditions, like what monologues from Shakespeare we should look into and then we spoke about what the universities looked for in our auditions, we then printed out 3 Shakespeare monologues to study and see which one would fit us. With Kelly we then looked at contemporary monologues to show how the performer affects the audience. We then looked at the safety video for the fire drill so we know what to do when there is a case of an emergency. We then did multiple exercises with Tom like lip drills sirens and physical exercises like stretching and breathing to help to project our voices without hurting it. And for the end we looked over more Charlie and the chocolate factory to get to know them better for when auditions and the show comes around.
Week 2:
Monday
We did what are you doing which is a game where you go in a circle and do an action on whatever the person answers to we then did moving day, busy bees all help with getting the energy up in the room and volume. We then go work on the Halloween show and the space we will be using, we also learnt about sub context to show that one of the people have a secret and to make the scenes more interesting.
Tuesday
Kelly sent us a task to look over at techniques in pairs, with my partner we looked at chair duets and how people interacted with each other on chairs and how the physicality between the two people tells a story we then went up to Kelly who split us off in threes to put what we learnt into practise and looked at different techniques we could use and after that we did a group chair duets.
Wednesday
Today, with warmups we introduced the game lockers to the first years and it requires concentration and energy because you have to be quick and have clear diction. We then got into groups and spoke about the ghost lights tours, we read some of the scripts and had a class discussion on what we should do. Then for Abby's class we did a few stretches and warmups to get us ready for a dance from the Charlie and the chocolate factory the 'Juicy' dance.
Thursday
With Tom we looked over Shakespeare monologues and spoke about how we should choose some that we feel comfortable with and what suits us more. With Kelly we looked at more contemporary monologues and looked into Avery's monologue and looked at the meaning behind were he's feeling like he's gotten no where in life and he is waiting for changes to happen without him doing anything about it. Later we went into the LRC to look into more monologues to print whilst the first years were doing the LIPS. in toms singing lesson we sang more Charlie and the chocolate factory songs.
